ATA AUDIO LAUNCHES HIFISCOOP 3 ISDN AUDIO CODEC

HIFIScoop 3
ROCKAWAY, New Jersey -- NAB Radio ’99 marks the launch of ATA Audio’s new HIFIScoop 3, an audio codec designed to deliver 20kHz stereo CD quality audio over ISDN lines. Easy to interface and use, the codec is an extremely versatile solution for high quality contribution links.

Housed in a 2U rackmount chassis, the HIFIScoop 3 accommodates a wide range of standard compression algorithms, including ISO/MPEG Layer II and Layer III, G.722 and the low-delay ADPCM. The codec also features the ITU-T J52-compliant algorithm, which automatically renegotiates different algorithms from one location to another, ensuring stable, error-free connections.

The HIFIScoop 3 is available in 2, 4 and 6B channel configurations and delivers full duplex operation in mono, stereo, joint stereo and dual mono channel modes. Aside from its broad choice of compression algorithms, the unit also allows transmission rates from 64 to 384 kbps on ISDN or V11/V35 interfaces.

The ATA codec’s front panel interface is comprised of a backlit LCD display and dust/breakage-free Lexan® keypad. Dual LED ladders provide a visual indication of the audio input level, while additional LEDs depict internal voltage alarm as well as external test and clock alarms. A 1/4-inch headphone jack on the product’s face features a pot for adjusting headphone volume.

Other notable features include a loopback mode for network testing, a universal power supply handling from 85 to 260 volts of AC power and a function that enables the codec to automatically answer incoming calls. Additional options for the ATA unit include an AES/EBU interface, auxiliary data channel and remote supervision software.
